How Our Customers Benefit from Partnering with an ISO-Certified Shop

In the spring of 2025, the CAMM Metals team began a journey that would ultimately strengthen our operations and create lasting value for our customers. It started with a promising opportunity, a project that perfectly aligned with our capabilities in laser cutting services, welding services, and CNC machining services. Everything was moving in the right direction until the customer’s quality team asked a simple question: “Are you ISO 9001-certified?” 

At the time we weren’t, and for that customer, certification was a requirement. When they decided to move the project elsewhere, it was a tough blow. But instead of letting the “one that got away” discourage us, it lit a fire under our team to pursue ISO 9001 certification, which we now hold proudly.

Turning a Setback into an Opportunity 

After that experience, we began reaching out to trusted peers across the industry to get their perspective on pursuing ISO certification. The consensus was resounding: becoming ISO-certified would be challenging, but it would be one of the best decisions we could make for our business and our customers. 

CAMM Metals took action immediately, reaching out to consultants, mapping out the process, and implementing changes starting in the summer. And even though it hasn’t been a simple process, we haven’t looked back. 

Improving Processes Across the Shop 

Pursuing ISO certification required us to take a closer look at every process, from how we quote jobs to how we track production time and inspect incoming materials. With the help of Fulcrum, our MRP system, we’ve made time tracking and documentation consistent and transparent. 

We’ve also placed a stronger emphasis on gathering complete and accurate information from our customers. Our team now reviews every drawing and all documentation before a project begins, even for projects we’ve been working on for decades. Sometimes that means asking customers for clarification or additional details, all in the name of providing them with the best possible results. 

How ISO Certification Strengthens Quality and Trust

We didn’t simply become ISO-certified to check a box; we did it to provide our customers with confidence that our processes would be rooted in consistency and continuous improvement. This certification is proof that processes at CAMM Metals are documented, repeatable, and aligned with the highest standards of quality. 

The CAMM Metals team is also holding ourselves accountable in new ways. Our team consistently reviews metrics like on-time delivery and part quality to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. These measurements help us manage what matters most and ensure that every part leaving our facility meets or exceeds customers’ expectations.
